Dementia is a harrowing illness that affects the lives people in every community and it is our responsibility as a church to help those who suffer from it. The Bible teaches us to love our neighbour and to treat our elders with respect. So, we pray for the peace and happiness of all those afflicted with dementia, and we offer them a space of respite and serenity in our community centre. Just as the Lord is caretaker of our hearts, we must become caretakers in our own community and help spread His peace to those who need it most.
We hope that this service can be of use to you and those you love.
Our centres are staffed by trained activity coordinators and volunteers who enable us to offer a unique environment for those living with Dementia. Our approach is to stimulate and lead a full activity programme during the day. We encourage you to visit and see first-hand the excellent day care facilities and environment that we provide.
We are open 5 days a week from 9.30 to 3.30pm, and we can also transport clients into the centres. Everyone is offered a free taster session to see if Silver Birch is for them - please contact Angela on 01268 881136 for further details and to organise a visit to St. Luke's or one of our other centres in Basildon and Benfleet.
